'Parks and Rec' actor to host Sunday's MTV Movie Awards
Aziz Ansari is a busy man these days. The multihyphenate is juggling his starring role on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation,” standup dates and a host of feature work as a thesp and scribe. But he’s also making time for the important things in life, like his first time out as a kudocast host. Ansari has done his homework for his gig Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards. “There are a lot of important awards to give out this year,” Ansari joked, “like Favorite Global Superstar and Best Scared Shitless Performance, which were originally Oscar categories in the 1940s.” Ansari has shot a few short comedy bits for the show, and he’s hoping the producers won’t “decide to cut to a still of Robert Pattinson instead.” Although he’s working on multiple feature projects with Judd Apatow and others, Ansari has even loftier goals for the bigscreen. “I’m still trying to reboot the ‘Die Hard’ franchise with me in the John McClane role, but studio response to this notion has been lukewarm at best,” he admitted.
