Alan Ball to helm HBO’s ‘Death’

'True Blood' creator to direct greenlit pilot

Alan Ball remains dying to stay in business with HBO.

Creator of “Six Feet Under” and current hit “True Blood” will helm greenlit pilot “All Signs of Death,” based on the Charlie Huston crime noir novel “The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death.”

Ball will exec produce and direct, with Huston penning the pilot. Production is set to begin in August, and will take place in Los Angeles. No cast has been set.

Project will center on a knockaround twentysomething who finds he has a knack for being a crime scene cleaner, and his life gets messy from there.

Huston will co-exec produce while Christina Jokanovich and Peter Macdissi of Ball’s Your Face Goes Here Entertainment shingle will produce.

“True Blood” found Emmy love Thursday when it earned a drama series nom. The series, in its third season and airing on Sunday nights, is the cabler’s top-rated show. “Six Feet Under” ran for five seasons, beginning in 2001.
