ABC tops Thursday ratings

'Wipeout,' 'Rookie Blue' premiere lead network

Led by “Wipeout” and the series premiere of summer drama “Rookie Blue,” ABC won Thursday primetime in the 18-49 demo and overall viewers.

“So You Think You Can Dance” boosted Fox to second place on the night.

“Wipeout” (2.6 rating/10 share in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall) won the 8 p.m. hour against all rerun competition, led by the first of two episodes of “CSI” (1.2/4, 6.4 million) on CBS.

At 9 p.m., “Dance” (2.3/7, 6.4 million) edged “Rookie Blue” (2.0/6,

7.3 million) in the demo, though “Blue” was tops in overall viewers.

CBS was third among viewers 18-49 in the hour with “CSI” (1.3/4, 6.9 million). So far this summer, “Dance” is taking advantage of the lesser competition to best its average from last fall’s run by 17%.

CBS finally emerged victorious at 10 p.m. with “The Mentalist” (1.7/5,

8.8 million), the night’s most-watched program, topping the premiere of nonfiction ABC series “Boston Med” (1.3/4, 5.1 million).

NBC aired three hours of sitcom reruns, led by the first of two episodes of “The Office” (1.0/3, 2.4 million at 9 p.m.). Summer series “100 Questions” was last for NBC at 0.6/2, 1.8 million.

The CW offered “The Vampire Diaries” (0.5/2, 1.1 million) and “Moonlight” (0.4/1, 1.0 million).

Preliminary 18-49 ratings: ABC 1.9/6, Fox 1.8/6, Univision 1.7/6, CBS 1.4/5, NBC 0.8/3, CW 0.4/2.

In total viewers: CBS 7.4 million, ABC 6.7 million, Fox 5.1 million, Univision 3.9 million, NBC 2.1 million, CW 1.1 million.
