ABC snaps up pilot from ‘Friends’ scribe

Goldberg-Meehan will write, exec produce comedy

ABC has picked up a comedy pilot from former “Friends” scribe Shana Goldberg-Meehan.

The untitled laffer centers on two sisters involved in very different romantic situations. One isn’t married but has a healthy, long-term relationship; the other is forced to marry her new beau when she gets pregnant.

Goldberg-Meehan will write and exec produce the half-hour, multi-cam comedy. Warner Bros. TV is the studio.

Scribe’s credits also include “Joey” and “Mad About You.”

Pickup comes a day after ABC greenlit a pilot from another “Friends” alum, Matthew Perry’s “Mr. Sunshine.” Alphabet has also given sitcom pilot orders to “Awkward Situations for Men” and “Women Are Crazy, Men Are Stupid.”
