Show moves ahead of 8 p.m. CBS rival 'Big Brother'

ABC’s “Wipeout” moved ahead of 8 p.m. CBS rival “Big Brother” among viewers 18-49 Thursday, boosting the Alphabet net to a primetime victory in the demo – at least among English-language broadcasters.

Univision had the highest marks in 18-49, while CBS had the most viewers overall.

“Wipeout” (2.5 rating/9 share, 7.8 million viewers overall) essentially held steady compared with a week prior, while “Brother” (2.3/9, 7.0 million) slipped 8%. Third in the hour was Fox’s “Glee” (1.1/4, 3.6 million).

At 9 p.m., the narrow winner was Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” (1.9/6, 5.5 million), which has been bedeviled by dancer injuries the past two weeks. Finishing second was ABC’s “Rookie Blue” (1.7/6, 6.4 million), which performed 13% better in the demo than in the previous week. CBS had “CSI” (1.4/4, 6.7 million).

NBC slightly altered its summer pattern of Thursday comedy reruns by popping an episode of “Law and Order: SVU” (1.1/4) at 10 p.m., where it finished third behind CBS’ “The Mentalist” (1.4/5, 7.4 million) and ABC’s “Boston Med” (1.3/4, 4.7 million – also improved from the week prior).

The Peacock’s “Community” (0.8/3, 2.4 million), “30 Rock” (0.8/3, 2.4 million), “The Office” (1.2/4, 3.0 million) and “Parks and Recreation” (1.0/3, 2.5 million) continued their middling summer performances.

The CW offered “The Vampire Diaries” (0.6/2, 1.6 million) and “Moonlight” (0.5/2, 1.5 million).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Univision 2.1/7, ABC 1.8/6, CBS 1.7/6, Fox 1.5/5, NBC 1.0/3, CW 0.5/2.

In total viewers: CBS 7.1 million, ABC 6.3 million, Univision 4.8 million, Fox 4.6 million, NBC 2.9 million, CW 1.6 million.
