After being on ABC’s shelf for months, the Alphabet finally aired “Romantically Challenged” Monday night and the Alyssa Milano starrer fared decently well to help the net win a competitive primetime race. The sitcom, however, was up against a repeat of comedy powerhouse “The Big Bang Theory” and will likely see its numbers fall when the CBS hit returns with a new episode.

“Romantically Challenged” (3.1 rating/8 share in the 18-49 demo, 11.5 million total viewers) was sandwiched between a 92-minute “Dancing With the Stars” (4.7/13, 18.4m) and “Castle” (2.7/8, 11.6m). Those were good enough for a win, as both Fox and CBS tied for second.

ABC, which only has six “Challenged” episodes in the can, couldn’t have been happy about the 35% dropoff, however, from the show’s “Dancing” lead-in.

Fox’s “House” (4.0/12, 10.5m) fared better than “How I Met Your Mother” (3.2/10, 7.6m) and “Rules of Engagement” (3.0/8, 7.4m) in the 8 o’clock hour. At 9, “24” (2.8/7, 8.9m) lost ground to reruns of “Two and a Half Men” (3.7/10, 11.3m) and “The Big Bang Theory” (4.0/10, 11.6m).

“CSI: Miami” (3.3/9, 11.6m) edged “Castle” and had no problems with an overmatched “Law & Order” repeat (1.2/3, 4.3m).

Besides “L&O,” NBC aired a “Chuck” rerun (0.9/3, 2.8m) and a new episode of “Trauma” (1.3/3, 4.5m).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 3.8/10; Fox, 3.4/9; CBS, 3.4/9; Univision, 1.2/3; NBC, 1.1/3; CW, 0.4/1.

In total viewers: ABC, 15.8 million; CBS, 10.2 million; Fox, 9.7 million; NBC, 3.9 million; Univision, 3.1 million; CW, 960,000.
