ABC keeps Wayans in family

Comedian reteams with Don Reo

Damon Wayans is back in a family way at ABC.

Wayans, who starred for five seasons on the Alphabet’s “My Wife and Kids,” is reteaming with Don Reo to develop a new comedy for the network.

The untitled project would star Wayans as an actor who plays America’s favorite dad in a sitcom — but whose family is not nearly as functional in real life.

Reo, who created “My Wife and Kids” with Wayans, will once again exec produce with the thesp.

ABC Studios is behind the multi-camera comedy.

Wayans and Reo also developed a comedy for ABC in 2008, in which Wayans would have played a widower, but that project didn’t move forward.

Reo’s credits also include “‘Til Death,” “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Action.”

Wayans’ credits at ABC also include the special “Play for a Billion” and the sitcom “Norm.” Keeping it even further in the family, Wayans’ son, Damon Wayans Jr., is set to star in the Alphabet’s midseason laffer “Happy Endings.”
