HFPA’s Anita Weber dies at 92

Longtime member served on board of directors

Longtime HFPA member Anita Weber died March 8 in Los Angeles. She was 92.

Weber served many times as a member on the board of directors of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. She received the Intl. Media Award from the Intl. Cinematographers Guild and a lifetime achievement Gold Card from the HFPA.

Born in Portland, Ore., Weber was a model, stand-in, actress and overseas U.S. Army Service Club director before she started writing a Hollywood gossip column for the Mercury, a daily newspaper in South Africa in 1955. Subsequently, she provided pictures and material for the U.K. and Japan. She was a staff journalist for Capital Pictures in England, Elite Photo Agency in South Africa and Uniphoto Press Agency in Japan.

Weber is survived by eight nieces and nephews.
