Actress Grace Boyd dies at 97

She was widow of Hopalong Cassidy

Grace Boyd, thesp and widow of cowboy star Hopalong Cassidy, died of natural causes Sept. 21 in Dana Point, Calif. She was 97.

As Grace Bradley, Boyd appeared in a number of films in the ’30s and ’40s including 1934’s “The Cat’s-Paw” and 1939’s “The Invisible Killer.”

Boyd’s acting career slowed down after her marriage to William Boyd, better known as Hopalong Cassidy. They married in 1937 when Boyd was 23 and Cassidy was 45.

Cassidy died in 1972, but Boyd kept his spirit alive by appearing in tribute shows including the dedication of the mile-long Hopalong Cassidy Trail in Palm Desert, Calif.

There were no immediate survivors.
