Tyra banks on Vien

Exec named prexy, COO of Bankable

Tyra Banks is beefing up the executive ranks of Bankable, tapping former Warner Music Group and NBC Universal TV honcho Patrick Vien as prexy and chief operating officer.

Banks’ Gotham-based shingle has expanded significantly in recent years. It recently launched the Bankable Books imprint for young-adult fare, in partnership with Random House, and it has an active TV and digital production operation.

Banks is exec producer and host of CW’s “America’s Next Top Model.” She also exec produces through Bankable the ABC reality skein “True Beauty.” Her Warner Bros.-distribbed daytime yakker, “The Tyra Banks Show,” wrapped its five-year run in May.

Vien will be responsible for expanding and diversifying Bankable’s operations in media and other biz sectors.

“My goal has always been to make Bankable a first-in-class global company that builds businesses that support my core mission, expanding the definition of beauty,” Banks said in announcing Vien’s appointment.

Vien was chairman-CEO of Warner Music Intl. from 2006-08. Before that, he served as prexy of NBC Universal Global Networks and also held senior posts at Universal Television. He founded the cablers NWI and Trio during his tenure in the 1990s as prexy of North American Television, which was acquired in 2000 by Barry Diller’s USA Networks Inc.
