Comedy wraps after four seasons

TBS has canceled sitcom “My Boys” after four seasons on the cabler, following a finale Sunday that drew 879,000 viewers.

Jordana Spiro starred in “Boys,” which premiered in 2006 and ran for 49 episodes. Betsy Thomas created the series and exec produced with Jamie Tarses and Gavin Polone.

Spiro and co-star Kyle Howard were both slated for starring roles on NBC’s 2010-11 schedule, on “Love Bites” and “Perfect Couples” respectively, but neither was able to retain those jobs, at least in part because of the uncertain future of “Boys.” In the time since Jordana Spiro dropped out of “Love Bites,” the show was reconceived without her role.

About 14 months passed between the end of the third season and the July launch of season four. In that time, series co-star Jim Gaffigan left to focus on other opportunities.
