Aussie vfx studio Rising Sun Pictures has tapped former Ascent Media & Digital Domain exec Michael Taylor as CEO.
With Taylor on board, the studio will begin a multi-million dollar expansion of its production capacity, including possibly another outpost in Asia. The studio recently consolidated its Sydney office in Adelaide and upped its capacity to 750-1,000 shots a year.
Taylor also is planning to expand Rising Sun’s ties with major Hollywood studios and other leading film producers worldwide.
The studio, which focuses exclusively on digital effects for film, is working on “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”
