Spike orders up third season of ‘Warrior’

Cabler wants 10 episodes for summer 2011

Spike has ordered a 10-episode third season of “Deadliest Warrior,” scheduled for summer 2011.

The series’ July 27 season-two finale finished second in its timeslot among cable offerings, bumping the program’s average viewership to 1.6 million per episode.

Navy SEAL Richard “Mack” Machowicz, the former host and producer of “Future Weapons” and “Weapons That Changed the World,” will become a regular in the third season of “Deadliest,” which plans to make greater use of technology to tell its stories.

“We are confident the innovations … will be a big hit with the show’s ever-growing fan base,” Spike exec veep of original programming Sharon Levy said. “The addition of more scientific explanation behind the weapons and the historical context of the warriors will enhance the viewers’ experience.”
