Spike goes to ‘Auction’

Cabler greenlights series about guys buying storage containers

One man’s garbage may be Spike TV’s treasure.

The cabler has greenlit “Auction Heroes,” a skein that features two friends who buy storage containers at auction and then resell the contents for profit at pawn shops. Eight 30-minute episodes have been ordered. Production is set to begin shortly, but no air date has yet been set.

Skein is from reality shingle Gurney Prods.

“In 2010, storage container auctions are the new frontier for uncovering riches,” said Spike exec VP Sharon Levy.

Spike also announced it’s going forward with one-hour special “Wild Animal Repo.” Show focuses on Scott Lope, who rescues extraordinary, wild and endangered creatures from unfit owners, illegal trade and harmful environments.

Jay Blumenfield, Tony Marsh and Tom Forman are exec producers.
