'Dudesons,' 'Parkour' get greenlights from network

MTV is betting TV’s next reality sensations are named Jukka, Jarno and Jarppi.

In its latest leap into extreme stunts, the cabler has greenlit two series — including “Dudesons in America,” which features four risk-taking friends who have come Stateside from Finland.

“Dudesons” will showcase the Finns’ attempt to make it big as performers of crazy stunts and pranks, such as bullfighting on stilts and trying to build their own rocketship. Johnny Knoxville is exec producing, along with Dickhouse Entertainment’s Jeff Tremaine and the Finnish foursome: Jukka Hilden, Jarno Laasala, Jarppi Leppala and HP Parviainen.

In addition, MTV is turning the 2009 special “MTV’s Parkour Challenge” into a series, with each episode pitting six competitors’ abilities in urban stunt skills. Going over walls, up staircases and through gaps between buildings will be de rigueur.

“There is so much competition for the eyes and attention of young guys these days that we really have to over-deliver and create can’t-miss, event television for them,” MTV programming prexy Tony DiSanto said.

Francis Lyons and Bob Kusbit of One Louder Prods. created “Parkour Challenge” and exec produce with Kemp Curley of Transition Prods.
