‘Law & Order: UK’ completes roundtrip

Blighty spinoff comes back to air on BBC America

In addition to seeing how “Law and Order” is done, Los Angeles-style, American viewers will also get the Brit rendition this fall.

BBC America has committed to airing 26 episodes of “Law and Order: UK,” with the first going up at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 3, followed by regular airings at 9 p.m. on Fridays.

NBC, which owns the franchise and is spinning off new version “Law and Order: Los Angeles,” which premieres Sept. 29, had the option of putting the import on its schedule, but insiders said the Peacock felt the full British version wouldn’t be a good fit.

Jamie Bamber, Bradley Walsh, Ben Daniels, Freema Agyeman, Harriet Walter and Bill Paterson are the series regulars. Exec producers are Jane Featherstone, Andrew Woodhead, Stephen Garrett and the founder of the “Law and Order” empire, Dick Wolf. Chris Chibnall (“Torchwood,” “Life on Mars”) is lead writer and also exec producer.

The series premiered in Britain in February 2009. The first 13 episodes, which aired that year on Blighty’s ITV, were adapted from the original “Law and Order” series, producer Richard Stokes has said. The second 13 launched there this month.
