Julie Bown set to ‘Walk for Women’

'Modern Family' mom helping raise coin for cancer research

Julie Bowen enjoys running, though the “Modern Family” mom usually prefers to do it solo.

But on Saturday, Bowen will join more than 45,000 people at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for Revlon and the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s 17th Annual Run/Walk for Women. She’ll serve as a host of the event, which raises coin for cancer research.

“Nobody looks good when they’re running, and god knows actors are a vain lot,” she jokes.

The bicoastal event — Gotham’s took place on May 1 — has raised nearly $60 million dollars to date for women’s cancer research, treatment, counseling and outreach programs.

“I’m somebody who doesn’t have the cancer in my family,” Bowen says. “But I think it’s still important to raise awareness and say, ‘Everybody needs to take a look at their own health.’ “
