Jon Pollack renews deal at Universal Media

'30 Rock' writer signs new overall pact with UMS

Jon Pollack, a longtime member of the NBC comedy scribe tribe, has inked a two-year overall deal with Universal Media Studios.

Pollack is already shepherding two comedy pilots for NBC and UMS, and most recently was part of the team that launched frosh Thursday laffer “Community” last fall.

Jeff Ingold, exec veep of comedy programming for NBC and UMS, praised the versatility of the scribe, who’s worked in a range of comedy genres over the years, from multicamera (“Just Shoot Me”) to animation (“Father of the Pride”) to single-camera (“30 Rock”).

“Jon has been a strong voice for us on all the shows that he’s worked on. We all felt he’s long overdue for creating and running his own show,” Ingold said. “He’s got a smart voice that has worked for NBC for 10 years.”

Pollack is spearheading the romantic laffer pilot “Perfect Couples,” which he co-wrote and is exec producing with “Friends” alum Scott Silveri. Pollack is also an exec producer on the untitled Adam Carolla project, which features the comedian as a contractor starting the process of rebuilding his life after a divorce.

Before signing up for Sony Pictures TV’s “Community,” Pollack spent the past few seasons on UMS’ “30 Rock.” His other credits include NBC’s “Joey” and ABC’s “Spin City.”Pollack is repped by WME.
