TV unit to resurrect 1974 android TV movie 'Questor Tapes'

Imagine TV has signed on to help resurrect the long-lost Gene Roddenberry project “The Questor Tapes.”

According to Roddenberry Prods. CEO Rod Roddenberry, Imagine is in talks with Tim Minear to work on the project.

“The Questor Tapes” was originally a pilot about an android who searches for his creator and attempts to figure out his reason for being. The pilot never made it to series, but aired as a TV movie in 1974.

“My father always felt that ‘Questor’ was the one that got away,” Roddenberry said. “He believed that the show had th epotential to be bigger than ‘Star Trek.'”

Roddenberry announced the project Wednesday night at the TV Academy’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Roddenberry was there to accept the honor on behalf of his late father.

Imagine TV topper David Nevins and development exec VP Robin Gurney are developing the project with Roddenberry Prods. COO Trevor Roth and Roddenberry.
