Golf Channel preps weekday morning show

'Dawn Patrol' to offer mix of news and talk

Golf Channel is teeing up a new show for morning drive time, “Dawn Patrol,” with a premiere date targeted for January.

Airing live for two hours on weekday mornings, the Orlando, Fla.-based “Patrol” will offer news and commentary not just on golf, but also other sports, pop culture and topical news, with a mix of field correspondents and in-studio guests. A nationwide search is under way for the show’s two co-hosts.

“We’ve wanted to introduce a morning show to Golf Channel for a number of years and felt that now was the right time,” said Tom Stathakes, Golf Channel senior veep of programming, production and operations. “Tackling everything from Tiger Woods to Brett Favre, the show’s format will be unlike anything we’ve done before, and we are very excited to be launching it in 2011.”
