Fox, Spielberg turn ‘Key’ to series

Kurtzman, Orci exec producers behind drama

Fox is close to landing another project from Steven Spielberg.

Spielberg, who’s among those behind Fox’s fall 2011 centerpiece “Terra Nova,” is also looking to adapt the graphic novel “Locke and Key” into a TV series.

Scribe Josh Friedman is adapting the series, while Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are attached as exec producers. Fox TV is the studio, along with DreamWorks TV (where Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will exec produce).

“Locke and Key” will be formally shopped to networks in the coming days, with Fox and NBC believed to be the front-runners for the drama.

“Locke and Key” comes from Joe Hill, Stephen King’s son, who has created a world about brothers who live in a mysterious New England mansion.
