Brit sci-fi show lenses in U.S. for first time
The rebooted “Doctor Who” is once again heading for new pastures — the Utah desert.
The Doctor, played by Matt Smith, will travel to the U.S. in November to shoot scenes for a two-part opener of series six, due to air next spring. The story is set in the late 1960s and involves a secret summons to the White House.
For the episode, co-produced by BBC America, Alex Kingston will reprise her role as River Song.
“Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat said, “The Doctor has visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound to get round to America eventually. And, of course, every fan will be jumping up and down and saying he’s been in America before. But not for real, not on location — and not with a story like this one.”
