Hollywood helps 'Stand Up 2 Cancer'
Friday’s “Stand Up 2 Cancer” on the Sony lot saw Seth Rogen, Tony Hawk and Renee Zellwegger answering phones during the live telethon. “I’ll be jumping down the stage, on a skateboard, and answering phones, that’s how I’m going to raise funding and awareness,” joked Hawk.
While stage managers warned the celebs they could get caught on camera “at any moment,” Katie Couric, who co-hosted along with Brian Williams and Diane Sawyer, traded TV-friendly heels for comfy flip-flops at the studio’s outdoor after-party. Plugged into the world of medical research, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Mehmet Oz were especially excited to help raise coin for the cause. “They’re putting some bait in front of us called ‘money’!” said Oz.
And if guests wanted a cigarette, they had best have enjoyed it in secret. “I have buddies that were grabbing smokes down the alley,” said “Rules of Engagement’s” Patrick Warburton.
