TV emcee steps up to replace Samantha Harris
TV personality Brooke Burke, who won the seventh season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” has now been tapped as that reality competition’s new co-host.
She’ll work alongside host Tom Bergeron and replace Samantha Harris, who had earlier announced that she was leaving the show.
In landing the gig, Burke also beat out a roster of finalists, which reportedly included Melissa Rycroft, Vanessa Minillo and former Spice Girl Mel B. Rycroft and Mel B. are also “Dancing” alums.
Burke has plenty of TV emcee experience, having hosted CBS’ summer music competish “Rock Star: INXS” and “Rock Star: Supernova.” She also served as the on-camera presence for E!’s “Wild On.”
Burke also appears regularly as a “mommy correspondent” on the syndie strip “The Doctors,” and hosts TV Land’s “She’s Got the Look.” The mother of four additionally serves as CEO of ModernMom.com, where she also blogs.
On the acting side, Burke’s credits include “Less than Perfect,” “Las Vegas,” “The Bernie Mac Show” and “Monk.”
“Dancing with the Stars” returns on Monday, March 22 with a two-hour opener at 8 p.m. The Tuesday night results show bows on March 30 at 8 p.m.
