‘Breakout Kings’ receives series order

A&E will put series into production in fall

A&E is giving “Breakout Kings” the royal treatment.

Cabler has ordered 13 episodes of the hourlong drama series, which comes from Fox 21 and Chernin Entertainment.

Skein, about an unconventional partnership of U.S. marshals and a group of convicts who join forces to catch fugitives on the run, will shoot in Toronto and go into production in the fall. Project was initially developed as a pilot for Fox.

Series is created and exec produced by “Prison Break” vets Nick Santora and Matt Olmstead. Also exec producing are Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope and Gavin Hood, who directed the pilot. Laz Alonso, who co-starred in “Avatar,” and Ray Zancanelli, topline the series.

A&E, which has done well of late with a heavy dose of reality programming, is increasing its scripted output. Drama “The Glades” is set to premiere July 11.
