Oxygen’s nonscripted series “Bad Girls Club” will return for a fifth season, moving from Los Angeles to Miami in the process.
The news comes just as “Bad Girls Club” became on Tuesday the cabler’s first program to draw more than 2 million viewers. It also set a record for Oxygen in the 18-49 demo with 1.4 million viewers. Series is up 67% in the demo compared with its third season.
When the ‘Bad Girls Club’ first went on Oxygen, it was sort of a little island to itself,” exec producer Jon Murray of Bunim-Murray Prods. told Daily Variety, and it was before NBC bought the network. I think we’ve just seen Oxygen as a network really rev it up in terms of its marketing and promotion. Also, their digital tie-ins to the show have been really helpful.”
Murray and Oxygen also haven’t shied from shaking things up. Before season three, the series expanded from a half-hour to an hour. The move to Miami should further invigorate the show, Murray believes.
Murray exec produces “Bad Girls Club” with Brandon Wilson and Jeff Schmidt.
