Each program recently scored record ratings

ABC Family announced renewals for original series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and “Make It or Break It.”

The news came barely a week after each program scored record audience numbers.

The 8 p.m. Jan. 4 episode of “Secret Life” became the most-watched telecast in ABC Family history among viewers 12-34, females 12-34, teens and female teens, and the second-most in total viewers behind the show’s June 22 second-season premiere. No cable scripted program in 2009-10 has performed better in 12-34.

In the next hour, “Make It or Break It” achieved a series high in ratings and gave ABC Family its best-ever numbers for that timeslot.

Each series will launch its new season this summer. Brenda Hampton exec produces “Secret Life,” while Holly Sorensen, Paul Stupin and John Ziffren do the same for “Make It.”

ABC Family also gave a March 14 airdate to original movies “The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice” (starring Francia Raisa of “Secret Life”) and April 18 for Hilary Duff-starrer “Business of Falling in Love.”
