Channel continues its reality push
Syfy is continuing its reality push by greenlighting three skeins that are aimed to raise the nonfiction profile of the NBC Universal cabler.
“Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen” taps into the cooking craze as chef and molecular gastronomist Marcel Vigneron plans the diverse menu for a weekly event, ranging from a fairytale graduation party to a Goth-rock fashion show. Skein is a production of Intuitive Entertainment and exec produced by Kevin Dill and Mechelle Collins.
On “Paranormal Witness,” people who believe they have witnessed ghosts and aliens discuss their encounters. Raw TV produces, with Dimitri Doganis and Bart Layton exec producing.
Third skein is “Face Off,” a competition series exploring the world of make-up artists who have an expertise in special effects. Mission Control Media produces, with Michael Agbabian and Dwight Smith exec producing.
Syfy, with “Ghost Hunters” and “Destination Truth” faring well, is set to launch another reality night. Beginning July 15, the cabler will preem “Mary Knows Best” and “Fact or Faked: Paranormal File” and air them weekly on Thursdays.
Scripted drama “Warehouse 13,” the most-watched show in Syfy history, begins its second season July 6.
