Event aims to improve education, boost service

Keeping kids in school and on the college track is the focus of a two-day leadership summit hosted by the youth service org City Year and the Entertainment Industry Foundation at the Century Plaza Hotel.

Showbizzers set to take part in sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday include DreamWorks CEO Stacey Snider, Anne Hathaway, J.J. Abrams, Sherry Lansing and John Legend. The confab bring civic leaders, philanthropists, execs and entrepreneurs together with City Year participants to brainstorm ways to improve education and boost community service programs.

Based in Boston, City Year sends young adult volunteers into schools and community orgs in 20 cities.
