Ryan Devlin (“Cougar Town”) has been tapped to star as William Shatner’s son in the CBS comedy pilot “Sh**t My Dad Says.”
Devlin will play the character based on Justin Halpern, who created the popular Twitter account (which inspired the project) after moving back in with his cranky father (played by Shatner).
“Sh**t My Dad Says,” of course, won’t be the official title — but with Shatner on board, there’s a movement afoot to retitle the project “Shat My Dad Says.”
Devlin’s other credits include “Party Down,” “Veronica Mars” and the feature “Weather Girl.”
“Shat,” from Warner Bros. TV and exec producers Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, also stars Nicole Sullivan. James Burrows is directing.
In other pilot castings, Blair Underwood has signed on to play the president in NBC’s drama pilot “The Event.”
Underwood joins previously announced cast members Jason Ritter, Zeljko Ivanek, Ian Anthony Dale, Laura Innes, Scott Patterson and Sarah Roemer.
The thesp has been seen quite a bit on TV as of late, having scored a Golden Globe nomination for his work on HBO’s “In Treatment.”
