Lythgoe tabbed for Philanthropy Award

'Dance' exec producer given honor by TV Academy

Nigel Lythgoe is to receive the Philanthropy Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation.

Kudo is part of the College Television Awards, which recognizes work by students across the country in the fields of video, digital and film production.

Event, held April 10 at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, will be hosted by “Dancing With the Stars” emcee Tom Bergeron.

Lythgoe, who helped build “American Idol” into a phenomenon, is exec producer of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance.” and is co-founder of the Dizzy Feet Foundation, a nonprofit org that provides scholarships and assistance to underserved youth.
