Director set for ‘Outsourced’

NBC taps Nelli for sitcom

Victor Nelli (“Ugly Betty”) has joined NBC’s upcoming Thursday night comedy “Outsourced” as director and exec producer.

Nelli joins the show as “Outsourced’s” pilot helmer Ken Kwapis is busy prepping to a film shoot in Alaska.

Kwapis, who developed the laffer through his In Cahoots shingle, is still heavily involved in the show, however, and continues as an exec producer.

Nelli is coming off a long run as exec producer and director on “Ugly Betty,” which wrapped this spring.

The helmer’s other credits include “My Boys,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Gilmore Girls,” “The Office,” “My Name Is Earl” and “Scrubs.”

“Outsourced,” which centers on an American who’s transferred to India, is also exec produced by Robert Borden. Universal Media Studios is behind the show.
