NBC alum to oversee casting for cabler
CMT has tapped NBC alum Marc Hirschfeld to oversee casting for the cabler.
As a consultant for CMT, Hirschfeld will be in charge of casting the channel’s upcoming reality shows and scripted comedies.
The hire was announced by CMT comedy development senior VP Brad Johnson.
“Marc’s impeccable taste and solid relationships with the creative community will be invaluable as we bring our scripted development to the stage,” Johnson said.
Hirschfeld headed up casting at NBC for 10 years, handling shows such as “The Office” and “30 Rock,” as well as USA Network series like “Psych” and “Burn Notice.”
Before that, he and Meg Liberman ran Liberman/Hirschfeld Casting. It was there that he received several Emmy noms for casting “Seinfeld,” and scored an Emmy for casting “From the Earth to the Moon.”
“I am really impressed by the caliber of material we have in the pipeline,” Hirschfeld said. “I think we have an opportunity to attract world-class talent, and I’m looking forward to helping build CMT’s brand in scripted comedy.”
