ABC Family has given 10-episode orders to two new drama series: “Huge” and “Pretty Little Liars.”
“Huge” revolves around the lives of six teenagers and the staff at weight-loss camp. It’s based on the book by Sasha Paley. Skein hails from scribe Winnie Holzman (“My So-Called Life”) and her daughter, Savannah Dooley. Holzman will exec produce the first episode and serve as a consultant on the remaining segs. Dooley will serve as a producer. Alloy Entertainment’s Bob Levy and Leslie Morgenstein will exec produce.
“Liars” follows four estranged best friends who are reunited when one of them goes missing, and the others begin receiving unsettling anonymous messages. Alloy is producing along with Warner Horizon. Levy, Morgenstein and Marlene King are exec producers. “Liars” cast includes Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Laura Leighton.
ABC Family prexy Paul Lee said both skeins were targeted to bow this year. “Both have (a) unique voice that will speak to our millennial viewers,” he said.
