Viddy premiere: Ima Robot’s “Ruthless”

It’s a good day for trippy video premieres: Here’s the new one from Ima Robot, “Ruthless.”

The track is drawn from the L.A. band’s forthcoming album “Another Man’s Treasure,” due this fall from Werewolf Heart Records. Ima Robot is the group fronted by Alex Ebert; his latter-day project is the hippietastic Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, whose album “Up From Below” has sold nearly 90,000 copies since its independent release last year. Now Ebert has regrouped with his Ima Robot bandmates to record and release some of their unheard material.

This dazzling animated clip directed by Noaz Deshe is a feast for the eyeballs. And we like the very subtle Ennio Morricone homage in the song’s bridge.
