UMG baptizes new label

Partnership with Siegel is for Imago Dei

Universal Music Group’s Christian division, UMCG, has partnered with entertainment exec Max Siegel to launch the Imago Dei Music Group.

“There is a strong foundation in the label geared toward a faith-based community,” said Siegel, former prexy of Zomba Gospel and senior VP of Zomba Label Group, both under the Sony BMG/Zomba label. Siegel, called the label generally wholesome, and said the positive appeal of its music was broad and accessible to more than just the Christian market.

A&R for Imago Dei Music Group (also known as iD Music Group) is headed by Next Plateau president Eddie O’Loughlin, who is looking to sign new talent this year.
