As showbiz pedigrees go, Nora Rothman’s might be one of the more seasoned. Her father is Fox co-chair and CEO Tom Rothman, who’s also an on-camera personality on TCM, and her mother is actress Jessica Harper (“Stardust Memories,” “Pennies from Heaven”). As a singer, Nora carries on a tradition established by her mom, who was an understudy in the original Broadway production of “Hair” (alongside Diane Keaton and Keith Carradine, among others) and is an award-winning singer-composer of children’s music.
Currently a student at her dad’s alma mater, Brown, Nora (www.myspace.com/NoraRothman) has already performed with such respected jazz stalwarts as Marcus Miller, Alan Pasqua and Bob Shepard. On Thursday night (June 10), she’ll appear at Catalina Jazz Club — approximately a year after her first headlining performance there — with Harvard Westlake jazz teacher, saxophonist and producer Shawn Costantino, trotting out a collection of jazz standards, sung with, as she says, her own “unique twist.” Reservations can be made online at http://www.catalinajazzclub.com.
