Lady Gaga led the pack at the MTV Video Music Awards nominations with 13 nods, including best pop video, best female artist and best dance vid, for her hit single “Bad Romance.” The diva also nabbed two nods in the video of the year category for both “Romance” and “Telephone,” featuring Beyonce.
“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13,” said Lady Gaga.
Eminem scored eight noms and will go head-to-head with Gaga for vid of the year with “Not Afraid.”
Newcomers nommed this year include Florence + The Machine for “Dog Days Are Over” (five noms), B.o.B for “Airplanes” (five nominations) and Ke$ha for “Tik Tok” (three nominations).
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air on Sept. 12, 2010 from the Nokia Theater.
