Tickets go on sale Jan. 22

The 130-act lineup for April’s 11th annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, announced Tuesday, will offer the fest’s customary eclectic mix of big-name headliners, buzzy new bands and alternative music pioneers.

Last year, headlined by Paul McCartney, the Killers and the Cure, seemingly recession-proof Coachella witnessed its second-best attendance ever, drawing 160,000 to the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif.

The 2010 edition kicks off April 16, highlighted by rap power Jay-Z; all-star unit Them Crooked Vultures; alt-pop darlings Vampire Weekend; Brooklyn’s much-chattered-about Grizzly Bear; John Lydon’s regrouped Public Image Limited; reunited U.K. ska-punk band the Specials; actress-vocalist Zooey Deschanel’s musical project She & Him; Puerto Rican hip-hop luminaries Calle 13; and outrageous ’80s diva Grace Jones.

April 17 will feature heavyweight U.K. rock act Muse; regrouped ’80s punk funksters Faith No More; New York electro-rock duo MGMT; White Stripes leader Jack White’s side project the Dead Weather; off-kilter new wavers Devo; hip Brooklyn group Dirty Projectors; and, curiously, director John Waters.

Leading the bill on April 18 will be Damon Albarn’s animated band Gorillaz; reunited New York noisemakers Pavement; Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke; electronic stars Phoenix; hip-hop icons De La Soul; ’60s rock-soul legends Sly and the Family Stone; British electronic pathfinder Gary Numan; and actress-singer Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Tickets for the festival, promoted by AEG’s Goldenvoice unit, go on sale Friday.
