Grammy-winner Daniel Lanois in intensive care

By Michael Sullivan

Three time Grammy-winner Daniel Lanois is in intensive care following a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles on June 5.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lanois should be released from the hospital shortly, but will require two months to recuperate. The news has prompted him to cancel several upcoming tour dates including a European tour scheduled for July.

Canadian producer/performer Lanois is best known for his work with Bob Dylan and U2, with whom he won Album of the Year awards in 1997 and 1987, respectively. In recent years, Lanois has produced his own music, and recently started a music trio with Jive Records called Black Dub. In a press release, reps for Lanois report Black Dub’s album will be released “when circumstances permit.”
