It will create soundtracks for promos, games

Atlantic Records has struck a deal with Fox Sports Net to promote the label’s artists across various events.

Music will appear during live NBA, MLB, NHL and college football and basketball telecasts. The record label is essentially creating a soundtrack for use in on-air promos, during broadcasts and game recaps. Skillet, Switchfoot, New Medicine, Mayday Parade, Stone Temple Pilots, Stone Sour, Shinedown, and 3OH!3 will be some of the artists played during the broadcasts. Deal is similar to the pact Atlantic inked with ESPN in September. Idea is to use sports broadcasts on TV to promote artists the same way record labels have used videogames, especially football and soccer titles, to showcase artists and hopefully boost album sales.

“This partnership with Atlantic Records offers great exposure for their artists and allows them to market their music to broader audiences,” said Chris Hannan, senior VP of marketing for Fox Sports Net, who added that the music will help elevate the network’s appeal to viewers.
