Dengue Fever gets “Lost” at Royce Hall

The Los Angeles-based Cambodian-American rock band Dengue Fever will perform their original score to the 1925 silent feature “The Lost World” at Royce Hall at UCLA in Los Angeles on Nov. 12.

The score was commissioned by the San Francisco International Film Festival, where it premiered in 2009; the group subsequently accompanied the feature again at Houston’s Cinema Arts Festival.

“The Lost World” was based on the first of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s popular series featuring adventurer Professor Challenger, played by Wallace Beery in the silent pic. The production was distinguished by the stop-motion dinosaur animation of Willis O’Brien, who later topped his feat with his work on the original 1933 “King Kong.”
