Dave Matthews Band issues live Haiti EP

Five-track benefit release culled from 2004-2009

The Dave Matthews Band has issued a five-track live benefit EP, “The Haiti Relief Project,” through its charitable arm the Bama Works Fund.

Virginia group – up for best album Grammy Sunday for their “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King” – culled the set from 2004-09 amphitheater perfs, including a date last September at L.A.’s Greek Theater. Collection is available through band’s website DMBLive.com, which is also selling a limited edition t-shirt bearing the EP art.

Since Bama Works Fund’s founding in 1999, it has collected $8.5 million for charity.

Band is also a participant in “Download to Donate For Haiti,” a Web project mounted by Music For Relief; set includes contributions by Linkin Park, Alanis Morissette, Peter Gabriel, Enrique Iglesias and others.

Matthews and Neil Young performed Hank Williams’ “Alone and Foresaken” on the Jan. 22 multi-network Haiti benefit; track is part of the Web-only “Hope For Haiti Now” compilation, the first digital album to reach No. 1 on the national chart (Daily Variety, Jan. 28).
