Producer-musician Daniel Lanois, who’s been busy lately despite a serious bike accident, came over to this writer’s pad about two decades back to talk about his then-new debut album “Acadie.” We thought the French-Canadian studio ace might reciprocate with an invitation to hear Neil Young’s new album, but we never got an invite. Maybe he thought his place wasn’t clean enough.
OK, we’re done sulking.
Anyway, the Los Angeles Times’ Randy Lewis was among the lucky few to make the scene at Lanois’ Silverlake manse on Tuesday to listen to Young’s latest, due from Warner Bros. on Sept. 28, and he writes about it here. In honor of its producer (a fellow Canadian), Young titled the essentially solo collection “Le Noise.”
