Clubs mount coast-to-coast Gulf benefits July 1

Coast to Coast Music venues across the country — including L.A.’s Roxy, Viper Room, Echoplex, Mint, Fais Do Do and Comedy Store — are banding together for an evening of shows benefiting the Gulf Coast relief effort on July 1.

The effort is being spearheaded by Nic Adler, owner of the Roxy; Casey Phillips, booker at the Viper Room and the Mint; and Sloane Berrent, founder of Answer With Action, a marketing and branding consultant for cause-related organizations. The non-profit Gulf Restoration Effort will partner to distribute proceeds, which organizers hope will reach $500,000.

More than two dozen clubs are participating in California, Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Maryland and New Hampshire. The benefit’s Web site will carry details on bills for the shows as they are announced.
