Chilean miner gets Elvis tour

Cave-in survivor given royal treament by King's estate

After word got out that Edison Pena, one of the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped for more than two months, was a big fan of the King, Elvis Presley Enterprises sent a package of tunes and merchandise to help ease the ordeal of being stuck in a certain kind of heartbreak hotel. (Pena led Elvis sing-alongs to keep their spirits up.) Now Elvis Presley Enterprises is treating its famous fan with a plan to fly him to Memphis for the annual Elvis birthday celebration that runs Jan. 6-9.

Pena will get a special guided tour of the city — plus heaping helpings of its famous barbeque — and, of course, Graceland. He’ll also be flown to Las Vegas to catch Cirque du Soleil’s “Viva Elvis.” – — Cynthia Littleton
