Carlene Carter, L.A. roots stars mount Nashville flood benefit

Carlenecarter02-x600 Carlene Carter and L.A. musicians Dave Alvin, Exene Cervenka of X and once and future Golden Palominos vocalist Syd Straw will lend their support to the music industry’s Nashville flood relief efforts with a June 24 benefit at the Echo in Echo Park. Proceeds will benefit the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund, a Recording Academy initiative.

The event is being mounted by the Echo; its bi-weekly Sunday roots hoedown the Grand Ole Echo; Music Menagerie, a musicians’ aid organization spearheaded by Alvin; and Tiffany Lowe, daughter of Carter and Nick Lowe, who pulled together the June event.

Thousands of Music City musicians lost their homes, cars, equipment and rehearsal spaces in the devastating May flooding, and few had adequate flood insurance to cover the damages.
