Bug Music nabs Saban’s catalog

Indie unit acquires rights to toon tunes

Publisher Bug Music has acquired worldwide rights to Saban Music Group’s music catalog.

Bug will control rights to Saban’s library and will advance the company’s strategy of acquiring high-profile copyrights licensable across multiple media platforms.

The catalog includes material from such leading kids’ franchises as “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (recently reacquired from Disney by parent unit Saban Capital Group), “Digimon,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Generation,” “The Addams Family Reunion,” “Princess Sissi” and “Walter Melon.”

Bug Music chief executive officer John Rudolph said, “Bug is focused on opportunities that provide growth for the company, as well as best practices for our film and TV clients across the world. This deal falls in line with our goals and will benefit our clients in real returns.”

Hollywood-based Bug controls copyrights ranging from Kara DioGuardi and Bruno Mars to Johnny Cash, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters and Woody Guthrie.
