Taylor Swift claims org's top honor
Current charts queen Taylor Swift made a clean grab of the top honors Tuesday night as performing rights org BMI announced its annual country music kudos at a ceremony in Nashville.
The singer-songwriter earned the country songwriter of the year laurel, as well as the country song of the year nod for “You Belong With Me,” repping the third consecutive year she has claimed the latter honor.
In addition, Sony/ATV Music Publishing Nashville, which handles publishing duties for Swift’s songs, along with those by Dierks Bentley, Trace Adkins and others, was named country publisher of the year.
Billy Sherrill received the org’s BMI Icon award.
