Back Street Boys face off with Big Oil

Backstreet boyz First it was boycott Arizona, due to that state’s onerous immigration law that was recently voted into legislation and roused the ire of several big-name touring acts like Shakira and Kanye West. Now it’s “Boycott BP!”

Leading the charge are the Backstreet Boys and hard rockers KORN, who are urging fans, and other touring musicians, to boycott the purchase of BP oil. The tandem is currently on a 35-city North American tour, with the grown-up boy-band supporting its new album, “This Is Us.”

“I’m devastated by what I’ve seen first hand and on the news” says BSB Nick Carter of the massive crude oil leak that has threatened wildlife and people’s livelihood in the Gulf of Mexico. “I’ve always been a marine activist and seeing pictures of oil-covered animals breaks my heart.

Adds Brian Littrell: “We just played Biloxi last week and I have to tell you people are really worried down there. This boycott is about making a statement, letting people know how we feel and to stand for something.”
